Is anyone else a fan of Andrew Lloyd's Reality TV shows, where he searches for someone to play his next leading role?
I have no interest in the melodramatic X-Factor or Britain's Got Talent, which is more about making spectacle of deluded contestants who think they can sing or dance, than actually bringing quality entertainment.
There's no doubt that it has brought many people's dreams come true, but Andrew Lloyd Webber manages to do the same thing without humiliating the less gifted contestants. He also opens up a whole world of opportunities for the runners up, who go on to star in other performances.
What I also like about his reality programmes is that we, the audience then have the opportunity to see our chosen winner perform on stage.
First we had to solve the problem of Maria, and found Connie Fisher, then Lee Mead put on Joseph's techni-coloured dream coat. The year following, Jodie Pringer won the role of Nancy for the Oliver Twist musical, and not long afterwards Danielle Hope put on a pair of red slippers.
I watched each series, including the latest, Jesus Christ Superstar. To be honest, I wanted Roger Wright to win because I saw him inThe Lion King Musical. Although he didn't make it, I was not disappointed when Ben Forester got the part.
The first production was in September and got great reviews; The Independent said is passed with "flying, high-rock tenor colours".
Now the musical is returning to the 02 Arena on the 13th March. Tickets become available from the 7th December and cost between £30-£65. Shows will be at 6.30pm
