American singer-songwriter Jarrod Dickenson begins his latest UK headline tour at Birmingham's Hare & Hounds on October 4, 2017.

It will be just a few days after the release of Ready The Horses, his second album and first on Decca Records. Jarrod is spending the summer appearing at festivals before embarking on his tour that concludes on October 18 at St Pancras Old Church in London.

Hailing from Waco in Texas, and now based in Brooklyn, New York, Jarrod's brand of soulful Americana has been well received with support slots, festivals and headline tours.

After cutting his teeth for 10 years on the Texas and New York circuits, his acclaimed debut album, The Lonesome Traveler, and subsequent EP, Songs From Willow St, paved the way for him to tour the UK, Ireland and Europe extensively over the past few years. Breakout performances at Glastonbury and Larmer Tree Festival, along with tours supporting Bonnie Raitt, Don McLean, The Waterboys and Jools Holland, have helped build up a loyal fanbase, including music-related celebrities Dermot O'Leary, Cerys Matthews, Huey Morgan, Janice Long, Robert Elms and Alex Lester. He has recently enjoyed support slots with The White Buffalo and The Stylistics on UK tours.

His sharp dressing and skillful guitar pickin' echoes the originality and style of a bygone era, with vintage-inspired hats and traditional southern sensibilities.

Likened to Tom Waits, Gram Parsons and Leonard Cohen, Jarrod's speciality is telling stories, and Ready The Horses emphasises that strength.

Originally due for a March 2017 release, early reviews caught the attention of Decca Records and the album was subsequently picked up by the label.

Jarrod says: "I think we've found a great home for the new album with Decca Records. It's an honour to be working with such an iconic label and to be a part of their rich musical history. I'm very proud of Ready The Horses and I am excited to send it out into the world."

Ignoring the attractions of digital technology, all the tracks were recorded with the core band live onto two-inch tape."I've found that getting a group of musicians all together in the same room and playing the songs live allows you to capture the energy and feel of a live performance, because it's just that; a performance,'' Jarrod says. ''You feed off each other and create a much more honest and meaningful thing in my opinion. Recording to tape produces that warm sound we all love, but also affords you less room for error. I think it forces you to give each take your all."
