Jacqueline Wilson's popular character Hetty Feather is the star of Nuffield Southampton Theatres' Christmas Show. Stepping out of the pages of Wilson's well-known book series, Hetty Feather will be showing at the NST's Campus Theatre from November 21st until January 7th. It's already been a hit on the West End, and now you can join the adventure in Southampton.
Hetty Feather is a Foundling Hospital girl. Abandoned as a baby, she is fostered out until her 5th birthday when she must return to the hospital to start her education. Of course, Hetty has dreams of bigger adventures. In this production Hetty Feather goes on an exciting adventure that see's her escaping the hospital, joining a circus, roaming the streets of London, and searching for a family to call her own.
As well as a heartwarming story that perfectly suits the festive season, Hetty Feather is a bright and fun show suitable for children 7 and up. There are lively original songs, circus stunts and performances, and a mesmerising set design. Fans of the Hetty Feather book series or television show will no doubt love to come along, but even those unfamiliar with Jacqueline Wilson's books will come to love Hetty's story.
The story has been adapted to stage by writer Emma Reeves and is directed by Sally Cookson. The vivacious Hetty Feather is played by Phoebe Thomas who has a host of stage and television credits to her name.
Tickets for Hetty Feather start at £10 and can be purchased from the NST website. NST will also be offering a relaxed performance of the show on January 3rd. Relaxed performances allow people with sensory issues or sensitivities to enjoy a more relaxed version of the show that isn't quite as loud, bright or busy as the standard show. There is also a BSL and Audio Described performance on December 16th.
NST's studio area can be booked for children's parties or private pre-show get-togethers, with food and drink able to be arranged. If you're interested in the Christmas hire of this space before one of the Hetty Feather performances, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
