Jackson Dean, the country music singer who inked veteran radio presenter Bob Harris’s first tattoo, begins a UK tour at Birmingham’s O2 Institute on April 22, 2025.

The tour continues at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on April 24, Manchester New Century Hall on April 26, Bristol O2 Academy on April 27, Glasgow SWG3 Galvanizers on April 29 and Ulster Hall in Belfast on April 30.

Renowned for his high-octane gigs, this is the 24-year-old’s first string of UK shows since his debut headline tour in 2023. Now based in Nashville, Maryland-born Jackson burst onto the scene in 2022 with his debut album, Greenbroke, which included the platinum hit single, Don’t Come Lookin’, which was featured in an episode of the TV drama Yellowstone.

His latest album, On The Back Of My Dreams, was released in September 2024 to widespread acclaim. It was preceded by a single, Heavens To Betsy, which is a live favourite, as can be heard on the 2023 album Live at The Ryman.

Jackson has joined tours and bills with superstar acts like Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert, Kane Brown, Brooks & Dunn, Lee Brice, HARDY and Brothers Osborne – but has become infamous for encouraging 77-year-old Bob Harris to have his first tattoo.

During an interview with Jackson at last year’s Country 2 Country musical festival in London, ‘Whispering Bob’ revealed that he’d always wanted a tattoo. Encouraged by Jackson, who has many tattoos, they visited the backstage tattoo parlour where the singer inked four small lines, representing a skylight, on Bob’s wrist.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Bob explained: “I’ve always wanted to get the word ‘skylight’ tattooed somewhere on me because years ago I did an interview with Mike Oldfield and we were in the studio at the bottom of his garden and it was a very, very wet day and he had a skylight that was open.

Before we started the interview, I said to him that maybe we should close the skylight because the rain was going to get in. And he said, ‘I couldn’t possibly do that.’ I said, ‘Why not?’ and he said, ‘Because that’s where the ideas come in.’ And I thought, ‘Actually, I really like that.’ It’s also symbolic of an open mind. It has great connotations for me.

Jackson offered to ink the tattoo at the parlour himself – but it was 11.30pm and both had been drinking tequilas.

We got down to the tattoo parlour, and it was immediately obvious to me that getting the whole word done was not really an option,” Bob says.

He’d already started sketching out the edges of the ‘s’, so I said, ‘If you extend those four lines, it’s symbolic and I’ll always be able to look at it and know what it means’. They represent the skylight – always keeping your skylight open.
