If you've got a child of pre-school age in your family, it's very likely you'll have already heard of 'In the Night Garden'. The Cbeebies show - which includes the characters Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy - has been keeping a generation of babies and toddlers entertained every evening for many years now.

But did you know there is also a live show that tours the country each summer? We took our two-year-old daughter last July and she absolutely loved it.

This year the 'In the Night Garden Live' showdome is heading to London, Birmingham and Manchester. The tour kicks off in Blackheath, London, on 26th May until 11th June, moving on to Richmond Old Deer Park, London, from 18th June until 2nd July. Then it heads to Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park from 9th to 23rd July, and finally The Trafford Centre, Manchester, from 30th July until 20th August.

The purpose-built, family friendly arena has only 13 rows, so the view and experience is just as magical from wherever you are seated. Our little girl's face when the familiar music and lights started is something I'll always remember.

The show is a mixture of life-size costumes and small puppets and tells a simple story just like in the television show. There are two performances to choose from: the Ninky Nonk show, where Igglepiggle loses his blanket and all his friends help him find it, and the Pinky Ponk show, where Makka Pakka washes everyone's faces, until his sponge gets stuck in Upsy Daisy's megaphone. It is a lovely experience for little ones and, with a running time of under an hour, not too long for them to sit still for.

Tickets for the popular performance go on sale on 29th January 2016, with pre-sale registration for a £5 discount starting on Monday 11th January at 10am. Ticket prices vary depending on what day you choose to go on (weekends cost more), and where you choose to sit (the first five rows are classed as premium and cost extra), but I think the tickets are great value for the memorable show you get to see. Last year we paid under £40 in total for two adults, one toddler and a baby. Added extras include a goody bag full of merchandise and meeting a character after the show.
