Get ready for a wild ride this spring as HOME unveils Imran Perretta's brainchild, A Riot In Three Acts. This isn't your average exhibition; it's a mash-up of sound, sculpture, and performance designed to dig into the often messy stories behind our urban landscapes. Perretta takes us through the lens of riots and protests, illuminating the social inequality and racially charged chaos that shape our cities. Think of it as a cinematic experience, but instead of popcorn, you'll be served a banquet of thoughts on the struggles faced by marginalised communities.
The installation features a film set inspired by the infamous Reeves Corner, a spot that's practically a character itself in the drama of civil unrest. You'll see an artistic representation of this contested land, a former family business site in Croydon that's now a symbol of anger and unmet hopes. With a backdrop that blends the past's haunting memories with today's disillusionment, Perretta's work resonates more than ever amidst a backdrop of continuing social challenges. And as if that's not enough, he's thrown in a newly penned score, A Requiem for the Dispossessed, performed by Manchester Camerata, which aims to explore who gets to tell the story when it comes to uprisings. So, swing by from February 22 to June 8, 2025, and see how art and activism collide in striking ways; you might just find yourself part of the action.
