Enjoy perfect pre-Christmas boost as illuminations return
The picturesque and tranquil setting of the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire will be bathed in magnificent winter lighting in the run-up to Christmas. The Illuminated Arboretum experience is to return to the Arboretum in Alrewas, near Lichfield, from December 11 to December 20 following the success of the first-ever event last year. Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to explore a meandering mile-long route through part of the Arboretum's 150-acre site at night to marvel at the majestic winter light experience. Following the successful debut in 2018, this year's illuminations feature a new selection of artistic installations using light and sound to explore the art of conversation, bathing the woodlands, gardens and memorials in colour.

As well as the thrill of walking through wooded areas decorated with hundreds of coloured lights, visitors to the Illuminated Arboretum display will be able to send a message with Semaphore Man, be mesmerised by the 'floating speech bubbles' and navigate through a giant web of colourful threads before discovering Votive Woods and Beacons of Light. Illuminated Arboretum is aimed at blending an exciting, multi-sensory, immersive experience with moving tributes of Remembrance. Many of the Arboretum's 300 memorials will also be lit up as part of the attraction each evening, including the Armed Forces Memorial which bears the names of servicemen and women who have died on duty since the end of the Second World War. The full list of illuminated attractions include Written in the Stars, Semaphore Man, Speech Bubbles, Colour Web, Votive Woods, Synapses, Stepping Stones and Beacons of Light.
