As a teenager, Galicia-born Iago found a classical guitar at home and set about learning to master it. From that moment, there was no going back: guitar became his passion, his obsession and his future. After moving to the UK in 2014, he was involved with several bands, including The Boo-Hoos, JFK Blue and Deep Blue Sea. He is now a one-man band on acoustic guitar, and his technique and approach to performance have captivated audiences across the UK and Spain since he went solo in 2018.
Along the way, he has performed with the likes of Josh Smith (Joe Bonamassa), Mark Flanagan (Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra), Jack Broadbent and Clive Carroll.

Debut solo album,
A Sunset Wine, was inspired by the work of Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel, while the follow-up,
Iago Banet, featured original compositions, plus two special arrangements: the traditional Galician
Muiñeira de Chantada and Van Morrison’s
Moondance.
Iago launched his third album,
TRES, in 2023 with a critically acclaimed tour that included multiple sold-out shows. He has showcased his talent at many festivals including Brecon Jazz, Hellys International Guitar Festival and Aberjazz, displaying his fusion of styles, ranging from gypsy jazz, blues, Americana, country and Dixieland, to swing, pop and folk.
Tickets to see Iago Banet, “The Galician King of Acoustic Guitar”, at the Kitchen Garden Cafe on August 25 are priced £12 plus booking fee.
