For many people getting a take away is just a matter of popping round the corner to the local chippy, however, most people have those days where it's cold outside, it's a dreary Sunday evening, there is no food in the house, you have no cash to hand and you just don't want to move.

This happened to me awhile back so I decided to go online and came across brilliant website Hungry House .

The site was originally set up just for take aways in London but the website has now expanded to all over the UK, with a full list of locations from Guildford to Aberdeen.

The principle is very simple, search for the take away of your choice, British, Chinese, Indian, Italian etc that delivers in your area and order your food all from the comfort of your armchair.

You go online, type in your postcode and a list of nearby takeaways comes up. You can narrow your search down by the type of cuisine you are after, or if you really don't know what you feel like, browse them all.

The website also has user reviews of the establishments so you know what you are getting and it provides some very good alternatives from what you may usually stick too so it is brilliant for expanding your taste buds.

It is such a simple premise and works fantastically as the whole process is very easy to use. I rarely carry cash on me so this site is a brilliant solution as you can just pay for your takeaway in a few easy steps online, by debit or credit card.

The website is completely free to use and you pay the same as if you rang up the take away directly, however with Hungry House you get the benefit of reading others' experiences, browsing the menus if you are stuck on what to go for and comparing prices.

The company now also have an app which is free to use and very easy to navigate. This can be downloaded from iTunes in a couple of clicks.

The site originally became more popular when founders Shane Lake and Tony Charles went onto Dragon's Den , the BBC UK TV Show in 2007 and gained investment from James Caan Duncan Bannatyne. Sadly this later fell through but luckily through their exposure on the TV show, the founders accepted alternative investment from Business Angels who had seen them on the show.

I have been using the site for a long time now and my food always arrives in good time, is always exactly as ordered and I am always provided with speedy service. It is great to be able to order online and choose food with your friends, rather than try to read an order over the phone to someone who may not necessarily understand what you are saying in a noisy restaurant. There are now over 5000 menus to choose from online and I believe this truly brilliant concept, can only get bigger.
