Scattered around Greater London and Essex, Epping Forest is a vast Woodland. Hollow Ponds, also known as Leyton Flats is just one part of the forest that's worth a visit.

Hollow Ponds is situated opposite Whipps Cross Hospital and the The Sir Alfred Hitchcock Hotel. Leytonstone is of course famed for being home to one of cinema's greatest masters; though the hotel itself is merely named after the famous director.

Hollow Ponds is great for a walk around the lake or in the large open green-space, but many come for the boating lake. Rowing boats are available for hire (Half-hour: £10 // One hour: £15), teas, coffees, ice creams and snacks are available from the boathouse or from The Log Cabin (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

If you walk through the space, you'll also find what is now the Snaresbrook Crown Court - a grade II listed Elizabethan building which sits by Eagle Pond.

You can park up in the Boat House Car Park or the Lakeside carpark, though the area is also easily reached by a variety of public transports.
