Holistic Yoga with Julia Moore

As this drab summer has robbed me of many relaxing days in the park and long sunny walks, I have found a number of different ways to relax and unwind.
My current favourite is to visit the Holistic Yoga Classes held at the Haelan Centre, run by the ever-so-helpful Julia Moore. She teaches the daytime classes on Monday and Thursday at 1:30pm and also has sessions on Wednesday at 11:30am and Saturday at 10:15am.
Her style infuses gentle yoga flows with deep breathing and other elements taken from Pilates, Alexander Technique, Physical Therapy and Tai Chi. She even gave us some tips based on her knowledge of Martial Arts, so I was sure to be polite during the class.
Julia focuses on the ethical precepts, physical exercise, breath awareness, self-reflection and meditation from classical yoga, in a way that is relevant, safe, accessible and enjoyable and steers clear of competitive yoga for the body-beauty obsessed.
During 90mins of steady work on my mat, I felt my body and mind unwinding and a deep sense of peace descending. By the end I was struggling to stay awake as Julia led us through a guided body scan and meditative section. We finished with a splash of China Gel, a strongly invigorating aromatherapy cream that really brought my attention back to the room.
The best way to enjoy the full benefits of this practice is to book a block of sessions. It is priced at £66 for a weekly class for a term and £120 if you are lucky enough to go twice a week. Julia also offers one to one home visits and complete lifestyle coaching if you are serious about making a change.
If you are hungry after your session, you should seriously consider checking out the range of healthy and yummy recipes on her website www.holisticyoga.co.uk . If you're looking to unwind after a stressful day, or want to embark on a complete overhaul of your lifestyle, look no further than Julia Moore.
