If you want to learn more about the past, nothing can be more effective than an immersive experience, so come and join one of the many events held at the
Black Country Living Museum .
To start with, let's find out how we moved from candlelight to the electric lamps. Bring the whole family and take part in the
Historic Lighting Weekend on 14th and 15th October.
The Historic Lighting Club of Great Britain will present lamps and lighting from the last two centuries.
Lamps will include early primitive and simple Roman lamps to the elegant lamps of the aristocracy of Victorian England. Also included are candle lamps, gas lamps, whale oil lamps, industrial lamps, mechanical lamps, paraffin lamps and early electric lamps.
The range of lamps will show the development and continuous improvements made as lamp makers sought to provide an ever-increasing light output based on materials and fuels as they were discovered.

An evening to explore the exhibition at night and participate in a short series of interactive demonstrations, followed by a fish and chip supper in the Bottle & Glass Inn. Pre-Book only - visit the website to know more about it.
