The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are located in Romsey, about 10 miles outside of town. The gardens are open year-round offering opportunities to view interesting plants and flowers and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Throughout the Easter school holidays the Hillier Gardens have various events for children of all ages. From Easter trails that explore the garden, to pond dipping and bushcraft cooking. The activities are fun and educational and give children interesting ways to interact with nature.



Self Guided Easter Trail
Friday March 30th - April 15th, from 10am

The Gardens feature a regular trail throughout the year, each with a different theme to suit the season. For the Easter school holidays children will pick up their map and follow clues left by the Easter Bunny. The family trails are a great way to explore the gardens with a little bit of guidance. Children who finish the trail will also be able to collect a small prize at the end. Trail maps can be picked up from the ticket desk.

Easter Food Boxes Boxes

Don't worry if you've turned up to explore the Gardens with a couple of hungry kids and no packed lunches. The Pavillion Restaurant has prepared two lunch box options (one hot and one cold) packed with their lunch choice, a drink, and a small Easter gift. These can be picked up from the restaurant any time of day and pre-bookings aren't necessary.
Cost: £4.50 hot, £3.50 cold

Pond Dipping

The Education Garden ponds at Hillier Gardens are filled with all sorts of interesting creatures you might never think to look at. Keep an eye out for beetles, skimmers and more creatures living in the ponds. All materials are provided and bookings are not required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Outdoor Adventure Holiday Club

The Outdoor Learning Company will be running their popular Outdoor Adventure Holiday Club for four days throughout the Easter break. The club is based around the philosophies of Forest school, and children will get to experience a range of different outdoor skills and activities. Sessions might include campfire cooking, bushcraft tools, and den building. There's also plenty of time to just enjoy the outdoors running around, tree climbing and exploring. Bookings are essential and can be made on the Outdoor Learning Company website .

[BFamily Woodlands Music**

Adults and kids can get involved with this musical session. Expect plenty of singing and music making. Kids can build their own musical instruments using recycled materials and have fun getting loud around a campfire. Digging up the past: Family Saxon Archaeology

Budding archaeologists will enjoy getting muddy in the purpose-built dig site as they uncover treasures and analyse artefacts. The session will also involve some Saxon history lessons and some fun themed craft activities. The price is for one adult and one child. Tickets can be booked online or by calling 01794 369318.

Family Bushcraft Cooking

One of the last activities of the holiday period is a campfire cooking session. You'll make warm fruit puddings and cook other things on the campfire, while also learning essential bushcraft skills for cooking and safe fire handling. The price is for one adult and one child.
