Great home-baked cakes served by a young, friendly staff
Home-baked lavender, chocolate butter cream and lemon drizzle cakes, along with teas galore and organic soft drinks, are only some of the delicious items on the menu at High Tea of Highgate. This gorgeous little tea room in Highgate Village,
run by Georgina Worthington and her team of bright, young things, also doubles as a gallery/shop selling a range of kitchen related goods, including Staffordshire pottery cow milk jugs, brightly coloured teapots, and designer aprons.
It is the cakes, however, which will make you come back time and again, either to eat in or take away to enjoy at home.
Refreshingly, there is not a cup cake in sight, just great, generous slices of sponge and fruit cake baked on the premises every day. As well as those already mentioned, regulars are chocolate orange, coffee and carrot cakes.
By way of accompaniment you can choose from 16 varieties of tea, three green teas and four herbal teas, hot chocolate with or without marshmallows, three types of coffee and Luscombe organic soft drinks such as blueberry and cranberry crush and elderflower bubbly.
