A taste in the Hogwarts world
If you are a true Potterhead, you probably already know about this shop. If you are just curious to discover the real Harry Potter world, but don't want to commit for the price of the Harry Potter Studios Tour, the Harry Potter's Kings Cross shop is there for you. The store is in the same style as the Ollivander shop designed by JK Rowling, so it really feels like the books and movies. It is made of wood panelling with many drawers and light fittings similar to those of the film. Even the music playing comes from the movies, for authentic ambiance.
The most classic gift to buy would be a wand; either Ollivander stamped or replica wands of Harry, Ron, Hermione and professors, or even the wands of the champions of the Triwizard Tournament. Prices vary, but the cheapest is £22.99. The store is licensed by Warner Bros, so they are the real wands. Surely with real dragon hair in it.
There are also collectibles such as a time reverser, a small Three Wizards cup and a Horcruxe. Some collectibles and some of the clothes are quite expensive, but apart from these few exceptions, most products remain fairly affordable like board games, key rings, cups, plush toys or figurines. My favorite item from the shop is the Dobby nearly lifesize stuffed toy, so scary and funny. It could be the best present but it is £35.
Right next to the shop is a recreation of platform 9 3/4. A trolley is pushed into the wall with Edwidge in his cage, where children (and sometimes even adults) can take a nice souvenir photo to immortalize their presence on the legendary station known all over the world. In reality this is where it all began for Harry Potter.
