Following her hugely popular 20-date
Piano Sessions tour in 2022, singer/songwriter
Harriet is back on the road to promote her new album,
The Outcome. The tour begins in Shrewsbury on June 1, 2023, and concludes in Pocklington on June 29. Cities set to be visited by Harriet include Birmingham, Cardiff and Liverpool.
The album was recorded in Sweden and includes collaborations with Jörgen Elofsson (who has worked with Kelly Clarkson and Celine Dion) and Anders Hansson (who has also collaborated with Agnetha Fältskog and Emilia Mitiku). The record is hugely inspired by the likes of ABBA, Carole King and Fleetwood Mac, and is in the tradition of the ‘70s singer-songwriters that Harriet grew up loving, with her voice evoking the silky sounds of Karen Carpenter.
Frequently championed by BBC Radio 2, Harriet first gained critical acclaim with her self-titled debut album, recorded in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This was soon followed by an EP,
The Universal Sessions, recorded exclusively for Alan Carr & Melanie Sykes’
Summer Escape Show, on which Harriet appeared live.
She says: “
I was very young when I made my first record. I put myself in a bit of a box with it and felt quite limited creatively. But on my new record, I've expressed parts of myself that I didn't feel perhaps comfortable doing a few years back. There were some emotional writing sessions, quite tearful, because they went to difficult places. The Outcome is a bit more vulnerable, but in an empowering way.”
The album’s first single is dance-pop number,
Story of Your Life.
Explains Harriet: “
I wrote it a few years ago as a letter to my younger self. I've been performing it live for quite a while, and the feeling in the room when everyone is singing along is incredible. It's really special when you write something and then perform it live, and it connects with people. That's what it's all about for me, really.”
