Happiness Ltd by Tom Nicholas will be touring the UK from Autumn 2017, with the production playing at the Salisbury Playhouse on Saturday February 10th at 7:45pm. Directed by Salisbury Playhouse's Associate Director Jo Newman, Happiness LTD is a New Model Theatre production and is supported by the Bike Shed Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth in association with the Salisbury Playhouse.
Vi is the play's central character. She's a video game designer living a fairly normal life, but after a break-up with her girlfriend, Becky Vi starts looking for a way to pull herself back together. So she turns to what she knows: video games. Vi designs a game that turns her everyday actions and tasks into game-like achievements, using gamification to help get herself back to a sense of normality. For Vi, this is personal, but when a colleague at work starts playing it too, he realises that Vi's game could not only make a lot of money, but make a real impact on people's mental health issues all over the world.
Happiness LTD is a new play written by Tom Nicholas. The subject matter is incredibly relevant in our current age, where depression and anxiety seem to be on the rise and gamification apps are genuinely being used as a way to target depression and other mental health issues.
The play is a comedy that deals with some serious issues in a fun and contemporary way. It explores happiness, depression and the way the at we measure success. It's relevant to anyone who's ever wished they could get an achievement patch for folding their laundry or making their bed, or for those of us who have at any point searched for that extra motivation to get back on with life when something dramatically changes the world as we know it.
Happiness LTD will be at the Salisbury Playhouse for one night only on Saturday February 10th at 7:45pm.
