Surrounded by the extravagance of Henry VII's Tudor court and the beauty of the East Front Gardens, Hampton Court Palace provides the perfect backdrop for world-class musical performances, spectacular fireworks, and a sumptuous dining experience. For the last twenty years their Midsummer Festival has provided something unique for visitors, and I forecast that their twenty-first event will also be a knock out.
Hampton Court Palace Festival 2013 takes place between the 13th - 24th June, and includes the legendary singer, Sir Cliff Richard, operatic heart throb, Russell Watson, ABBA revivalist, Björn, and fifties glamour girl, Imelda May. There will also be a fabulous night of classical music followed by an explosive fireworks display. Concert tickets range from £35.50-£75.
Of course, if Henry VIII were here today, by this point he'd probably asking 'what about the food?' Well, there will be plenty of that too. The East Front Gardens will open at 5.30pm, where there's food stalls, drinks, and a champagne bar. Book in advance, and you can get your very own Jamie Oliver Fabulous Feast picnic basket with barbecued chicken, heritage tomatoes, golden syrup walnut cake, and a bottle of wine. If £75 for a picnic sounds a little overboard, you can also pack your own picnic and enjoy a late evening midsummer feast on the lawn before the concert starts.
