From Trampolining To A Halloween Trail During School Holiday
If you want to keep the children off the sofa and not glued to their computer or phone screens this half-term holiday, then Lichfield District Council's programme of school holiday activities could just be the answer. From trampolining sessions and inflatable fun in the pool through to a spooky Halloween trail in a park, there is certain to be something to entertain children of all ages during the autumn half-term from October 25 to 28.
Trampolining sessions available at Burntwood Leisure Centre
The fun is being made available at Burntwood Leisure Centre in Burntwood and Friary Grange Leisure Centre in Lichfield, as well as Beacon Park, Lichfield. Burntwood Leisure Centre will be offering swimming lessons, a rookie lifeguard course, as well as trampolining and tennis coaching during the week. At the same time, Friary Grange Leisure Centre will be running a lifeguard qualification course, swimming lessons, and sports and cycling training camps throughout the school break.
Both leisure centres will also be hosting inflatable fun pool sessions as well as offers on football and court hire, and for 10-19 year olds there will also be the opportunity to try out a range of Positive Futures sessions from streetcheer to boxing and multi sports.
Away from the leisure centres, Beacon Park in the centre of Lichfield will also have a lot going on every day during the half term holiday, starting with the Halloween Puzzle Trail available from the park's Ranger Station. For only £1, families can follow the colourful trail around the historic park to solve clues and claim a small prize.
The fun will continue in Beacon Park with a Feed the Birds drop-in workshop in the Discovery Hub on Wednesday 26 October, where participants can learn to create a bird feeder out of pine cones and seeds to help the birds survive the winter.
And in a first for Beacon Park, willow workshops will be offered to children aged from 5 to 12 for £2.50 each. Wacky Willow Creations will run three workshops during Thursday 27 October, starting with the making of dream catchers at 10am, green willow crowns at 11am and willow photo frames at 12 noon. Places need to be booked by calling Beacon Park on 01543 308869.
Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks, said: "With swimming, sports sessions, creative workshops, park activities and more, there's plenty for children and young people to do this autumn half term. To avoid disappointment, we're encouraging families to look at the full programme and book as soon as possible."
