Get The Kids Down To Beacon Park for Holiday Activities
There's plenty going on in Lichfield's vast Beacon Park to keep children busy and entertained during the upcoming school holiday.
The 70-acre Beacon Park, situated on the edge of the historic cathedral city, has plenty to occupy schoolkids during the Spring half term break from February 15 to 19.
Half-term fun awaits at Beacon Park
Holiday treats range from making a kaleidoscope to playing a rapid round of golf, but young visitors can also enjoy Beacon Park's regular attractions such as tromping through the woods or exploring the play area.
Young golfers can tee off for a 'Rapid Round' each day during the half term holiday from 11am to 3pm. A rapid round consists of nine holes, which is half the usual amount, making it perfect for beginners and younger golfers.
It costs £2.60 for children and £4.20 for adults, which can be paid at the Ranger Station, where equipment is also available to hire.
The team at Beacon Park want to remind all golfers to enter the Golf Leaderboard challenge when playing golf at the park. Simply add your contact details to your score card and hand it into the Ranger Station to see if you can top the monthly leaderboard and win a prize.
Over half term Beacon Park is also offering crafty workshops. Running on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 February, children will be taught how to make their own colourful kaleidoscope.
Lots of holiday fun to be had in park
The sessions will run at the Discovery Hub at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm and are suitable for children over five years of age. The kaleidoscope sessions cost £2, with places having to be booked in advance by calling 01543 308869.
Lichfield District Council's Parks Team is also running a 'Green Gym' session at the recreational area on Sainte Foy Avenue in Lichfield on Wednesday 17 February, from 11am to 12 noon.
The hour-long session will include working out on the outdoor gym and fitness equipment. It costs £1 to take part and is for anyone age 11 or over.
