Beehives may be all the rage in Tamworth, Staffordshire, on Saturday 8 August ahead of a special outdoor cinema screening of popular musical film Hairspray in the town's Castle Grounds.
Stylists at the Rage hairdressing salon in King Street plan to dress up for the event and are already getting into the spirit of the swinging sixties with the iconic beehive hairdo, as sported by the film's main character TracyTurnblad.
Singing and dancing will be the order of the day for Hairspray, which will be shown at 9.15pm.The 2007 remake stars JohnTravolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Zac Efron, Nikki Blonsky and Queen Latifah and is one of the most commercially successful musical films of the last decade.
The film tells the story of Baltimore teenager TracyTurnblad as she auditions for a TV show and discovers an unfair segregation between black and white dancers.
