Beehives may be all the rage in Tamworth, Staffordshire, on Saturday 8 August ahead of a special outdoor cinema screening of popular musical film Hairspray in the town's Castle Grounds.

Stylists at the Rage hairdressing salon in King Street plan to dress up for the event and are already getting into the spirit of the swinging sixties with the iconic beehive hairdo, as sported by the film's main character TracyTurnblad.

Salon manager of three years, Fallon Hill, tried the classic retro style on model Emma Smith, who then hit the streets to spread the word about the summer evening screening on August 8 .

Fancy dress is definitely encouraged for this year's outdoor cinema event which is returning for a third summer following sell-out success in previous years.

This year audiences are invited to enjoy musical treat Hairspray, made in 2007, followed by supernatural slasher horror A Nightmare on Elm Street, which will be shown on a giant screen.
