Grade II listed Historic Parks and Gardens complete with a children's playground, cafe, bowls club, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course. is an expansive park set behind the residential area and surrounded by local pubs, cafes and independent shops.

It's a wide open space despite the variety of amenities that the park has to offer. There are plenty of benches around the lake as well as many scattered around the park itself. If you're after a long walk, the woodland area is perfect for a nice stroll through the tress and along the running waterway that stems from the lake itself. Paths run around the whole of the park, but heading off the beaten track will take you through the woodland area where you can find the stream, crossing bridges and an additional wooden playground set amongst the trees.

The lake itself is home to Mallards, Mute Swans, Moorhen, Chinese and Canada Geese and many other birds, whilst Robins, Jays, Blackbirds, Wrens and the occasional owl can be spotted in the woodland areas.

With plenty of parking spots surrounding the park, including many disabled bays, and a short walking distance from the local station, it's an easy place to get to. There is a cafe inside the park, however the local area has a variety of restaurants, cafes and delicatessens if you're after something else.

Not to miss: The rockery and stream // Inverforth Gate (named after Lord Inverforth) // Grovelands House (now the Priory Hospital, North London)

You can read on the dense history of the park here or on the fascinating 'Lost Hospitals Of London' page here
