Career Versus Motherhood

For women it is a constant struggle when it comes to deciding where our priorities lie. Career woman or motherhood? Do I give up my job and become a full time mum, do I juggle both, or do I forget about having kids altogether?

With some jobs, however, the decision is made for you.Grounded is a new play at the Gate Theatre, which explores the role of women, motherhood, and the pursuit of a career.

When a hot-rod fighter pilot discovers that she is pregnant, her high flying career makes a crash landing, and she is relegated to a twelve-hour shift manning remote controlled drones over Pakistan. No longer part of the action, she feels frustrated and restless.

The production runs until the 5th October with tickets at 20 or 15 concessions. On the 14th September, there will be an accompanying acting masterclass led by Lucy Ellinson, which will be 15.
