For women it is a constant struggle when it comes to deciding where our priorities lie. Career woman or motherhood? Do I give up my job and become a full time mum, do I juggle both, or do I forget about having kids altogether?
With some jobs, however, the decision is made for you.Grounded is a new play at the Gate Theatre, which explores the role of women, motherhood, and the pursuit of a career.
When a hot-rod fighter pilot discovers that she is pregnant, her high flying career makes a crash landing, and she is relegated to a twelve-hour shift manning remote controlled drones over Pakistan. No longer part of the action, she feels frustrated and restless.
The production runs until the 5th October with tickets at £20 or £15 concessions. On the 14th September, there will be an accompanying acting masterclass led by Lucy Ellinson, which will be £15.
