Greggs Bakery has opened one of its outlet stores to help local Southampton residents save money on their favourite pasties, baguettes and sweet treats! These little-known outlet stores are mostly situated in northern England's major cities so it's great to see them starting to open in the south.





is located on Victoria Road, with plenty of car parking spaces close by. The store opens at 7.30am Mon - Sat (Sunday 9am) until 4.30pm (Sunday 3pm).

Greggs has over a thousand bakeries throughout the UK, making them a popular choice, but what is the difference with a Greggs Outlet? They are stores that sell day-old stock that would have been potentially thrown away, at a significantly reduced price. In fact, most products are at least half price, if not a quarter of the price sold in a main store. However, these outlets don't have the ability to warm items up (and let's be honest, when was the last time you had anything hot from Greggs anyway!) That doesn't mean you can't take them home or to work and warm them up yourself though.

According to Greggs and their signage in store, "At your local Outlet shop, you can pick up your favourite Greggs for less". There are a few reasons this can happen, including they may have made too much, all the food didn't sell the previous day, the range is no longer sold in main Greggs stores, or they've simply over ordered due to the weather. Whatever the reason is, it's still tasty and of better value than ever.

The Greggs Outlet in Woolston is a small shop with 4 savoury displays and 2 sweet displays full to the brim each morning, and come lunchtime, gaps start to appear. Greggs famous sausage (and vegan) rolls are sold in packs of 4 for £1.50, a pack of 2 chicken, steak or vegetable bakes is £1.20, 2 sausage, bean and cheese melts are £1.20, filled rolls and baguettes (including roast chicken and bacon club, cheddar cheese salad and chargrill chicken oval) are £1 each, 2 glazed ring doughnuts are 50p, 4 iced ring doughnuts are £1.20, and 12 filled doughnuts are just £3!

These are just a selection of what we saw on offer, however, products change daily. They also sell broken and misshaped biscuits at next-to-nothing prices.

There is also a selection of hot and cold drinks to takeaway, including fresh coffee, tea and regular soft drinks in the chiller.



At a time when everyone is watching their pennies a little closer, Greggs Outlet in Woolston has appeared at the perfect time. It's also great to see their sustainability efforts to reduce food waste with products that could have ended up in landfill.
