Notts folk have got a lot to be proud of at the minute. A city renowned for its culture and nightlife, two football teams on the up and a clutch of medals at the London 2012 Olympics are all reasons for Trentsiders to be cheerful despite the washout of a summer we've just had.

What better way to celebrate such justifiably high levels of civic pride than with the Great Nottinghamshire Show ? Held at Highfield Sports Club on University Boulevard, Beeston on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of September 2012, the Great Nottinghamshire Show is a festival of all things Notts.

The show will feature a whole range of things to see and do, including stalls selling local produce, a bar tent offering ever-popular cask ales, arts and crafts exhibitions and even a tug of war competition. Entry to the grounds will be free, although all proceeds taken inside the show will go to deserving local charities, so please give generously.

Attendees will get the chance to win a Mini and an Audi TT, while the event will be rounded off with an awards ceremony and fireworks display courtesy of 1st Galaxy Fireworks, famed for providing pyrotechnics for the city's famous New Year displays on Victoria Embankment.

The centrepiece of the Great Nottinghamshire Show will be the Merriment Upon The Decks music event, featuring live music and DJs picked from Nottingham's rich music scene. DJ Lyman and DJ Hemulen Sounds perform alongside Nina Smith, Georgie Rose and Tom Wardle as part of a two day celebration of music in the county.

With free entry and all proceeds going to excellent causes, there are no excuses not to come down and show some love for your local community.
