Headlined by Angelina Jolie and Foreign Secretary William Hague, this is a three day event about a really important cause: ending sexual violence in conflict.
Starting Tuesday 9th June, and running until Thursday 12th June, 09.00 - 20.30. There is plenty of time to attend, even if it is a for an hour or two after work, especially if you live or work near the Docklands.
In a nutshell the aim of the summit is to "urge countries to strengthen their domestic laws so that those responsible for sexual violence in conflict can be reliably prosecuted both in and outside the countries where they committed their appalling crimes".
Rape is such a heinous crime and when you hear the stories coming out of this summit, and the accounts given by victims and perpetrators alike, you will feel horrified. I know I certainly did.
There are numerous events that the public can attend. To plan out your day before you get to the ExCel, check out the public events
programme .
If you can't get to the ExCel Centre, but you are interested in the event, you can check into what's happening with their
webcast and live blog .
For those of you heading to the event, see you tomorrow or Thursday.
