Lovers of big band music will not want to miss this event, get ready to listen to classic swing at this amazing Manchester venue.
The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester showcases amazing live music in Manchester throughout the year. This January, you have the opportunity to see one of the best swing bands in the country at the venue. The band leader, Ray McVay, leads the big band in playing classic songs arranged by Glenn Miller. This event honours the famous big-band musician, Alton Glenn Miller, who was best known as a composer and bandleader. As a best selling musician from 1939-1943, he had many musical hits which will be celebrated and shared in this concert. Sit back and listen to music from the forties, including wartime classics and special arrangements.
You may feel like you have stepped back in time as part of the show will be performed with the band wearing uniforms from World War II. Music has the ability to foster your imagination and you will feel like you are experiencing life in a different era. Classic songs being played on the night include
Moonlight Serenade, Tuxedo Junction and
String of Pearls. The night is set to be extra special with a special appearance from guest stars
The Polka Dot Dolls ,a vocal harmony trio from London who sing beautifully arranged 30's and 40's style songs which bring back the nostalgia of a bygone era. On the night, they are performing a tribute to
The Andrew Sisters with songs such as
Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree. There will also be guest vocalists from Mark Porter and Catherine Sykes.
Taking place on Sunday 7th January at 3pm this is a perfect weekend event to while away the afternoon.
Tickets can be booked online and are priced between £18.50- £34.50 depending on where you want to be seated. Limited full price tickets remain but there is still a range of seats which can be purchased.
Do something different this weekend and enjoy some music from a different era.
