Should you want to party on a Saturday night, and you find yourself, by chance, or by design, in Shepherd's Bush - where do you go? Well, here's my reply - go to Ginglik. This is a venue that literally puts the underground into underground, being that it is held in a converted Victorian public convenience (oh, ok toilet). Once you get inside, you're first surprised by the spaciousness of the place - there is a well-stocked bar and nice bar staff on one side, a large dance area and stage the other, with the in-between space providing seating for those who are not quite ready to hit the floor yet.
The club is open, as you would expect, Friday and Saturday nights, but there is a lot more going on besides - from comedy nights featuring some of the hottest UK talent, to rather bizarre sounding events and one-offs, such as Belly Dancing Courses and Balkan music nights - apparently there is something for everyone. And should you wish to take a break from the entertainment on the dancefloor - well you could check out the rather nice artwork and posters on the wall, alternatively, the 'recovery zone' is as good a place as any (though don't expect people to respect the boundaries if the dancefloor is full, to be honest).
Be warned though, as the club operates a membership policy, so don't turn up unprepared, bring i.d. to allow yourself to be part of the party - then enjoy what is probably one of Shepherd's Bush's best kept secrets.
