The way to a vegetarian's heart is through his/her stomach
Run by newly-weds Mark and Clare, the cute Ginger Cafe, with its walls full of local kitch-style handycrafts and VegFest award certificates, is found nestling above a health food shop in the town centre of Halifax.

It offers a variety of award-winning hot and cold daily specials, as well as an extensive menu of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, hot dinners such as bangers and mash, salads... all of which are vegetarian, many are vegan and some are gluten free. The counter displays a range of cakes, made by the owner, Clare (all of which are suitable for vegans), and there's fresh coffee and a selection of teas and juices.

My sister and I had soya mince and vegetable pie with roast potatoes and seasonal veg which was hot, tasty and filling.

We each finished with a soya latte and I had the florentine (pictured) and my sister had the cheesecake - the whole lot was vegan-friendly and absolutely delish.

Lunchtimes can be busy so you may need to hang around for a table but it's worth the wait. They also accept bookings.
