Dine Birmingham (DB) are the organisation that eats for you; their roving eaters find the best gastropubs, and tucked away cafes. They celebrate the unsung heroes that are the smaller restaurants, but also give an honest verdict on fine dining venues in Birmingham. DB frequently work with a number of restaurants regarding events, glam happenings within the food industry, and now they welcome FutureFoodies.
Le Truc's cheese bon bons
FutureFoodies is a response to the burgeoning food industry within the city. It seems Birmingham is coming on leaps and bounds, and with four Michelin star chefs residing in Birmingham, it's no surprise there's a buzz in the air.
The event is going to be hosted by DB at the ever-accommodating Hotel La Tour, who have invited the who's who of top and emerging chefs in Birmingham.
For dessert, revellers will be served an array of delicate delights from Devenish Girl, Miss Apple Sweets who specialises in gourmet Brazilian brigadeiros - not a truffle - and Cupkakery whose frosting is incredibly creamy and light.. Having sampled treats previously from each baker I am rather excited about this. I'm particularly fond of Devenish Girl because they also provide skills training for disadvantaged young people and opportunities for employment. Could it be any sweeter? Bring on the sugar.
It looks set to be a foodie feast, but one cannot be satisfied on food alone. To help the food go down, DB has gathered some of the best in local brewers for the event. Aston Manor Cider, Beer Geek Brewery, Birmingham Whisky Club, and BYWine will be getting people nicely sloshed as they sip the local beverages.
Cider and whisky
Not one to share the limelight, Birmingham is creating its own light, garnering it's own attention and harnessing the talented and local independent cooks, chefs and foodies to create a gastroculture. It is high time the culinary merits of Birmingham were applauded and it is with great pleasure that I announce that this is FutureFoodies.
