Since Freedom from Torture was established in 1985, over fifty thousand people have come to the charity organisation for help. The severe mental and physical abuse that many individuals endure everyday can have devastating effects. The aims of Freedom from Torture is to provide rehabilitation and protection to survivors in the UK. This is done through counselling, physical therapy, and group work.

In order to provide these services, they need support from people like you, who can donate their time, money, and good will. If you would like to help, there are many ways to help free people from torture:

Chat, drink coffee, and raise money for charity by hosting your own Coffee Mornings. One of the best ways to round up participants and spread the word, is by organising it through a local faith group. You could hold the coffee mornings at church, after services, and put on other activities such as a bake sale. For assistance in organising a coffee morning, you can call 0207 697 7788 or emailing [email protected].

[SECTION]Volunteer[/SECTION]

If you would like to get involved with the organisation, then you can join a local group, and help out with organising events, and other activities. If there is not a group in your area, you can always find out how to start one of your own by calling 020 7697 7749.

Many Freedom from Torture clients in London have never left the city; most do not have a proper home, and have to live in hostels. As a way of helping the clients integrate back into ordinary life, and to give them a break. Freedom from Torture gives these people holidays, through the hospitality of hosts, who are willing to welcome individuals or families into their home for a short holiday stay. Could you be one of them? If you would like to share you house with guests, then call 020 7697 7777 or email [email protected].

[SECTION]Recycle[/SECTION]

Freedom from torture has partnered up with Recycling for Good Causes . This means, that at no cost to you, you can recycle any unwanted jewellery, watches, or foreign banknotes to be turned into a donation. For a free-post envelope, phone 020 7697 7844 or email [email protected].
