Almost hidden away in Chadderton, Manchester is a hidden gem of a park perfect for a short walk. Foxdenton park is a beautifully maintained park that benefits from a permanent gardener to make sure the lawns are pristine and the plants are well looked after.

Despite having so much to offer it may be a place you have never heard of as it's not one of Manchester's main parks. However, with 2 bowling greens, a children's play area, football pitch and pond there are many reasons to visit.

I spotted this place randomly on a map when looking at somewhere to walk. I was not disappointed with this stunning park. There is a nice car park just off Foxdenton Lane for car drivers and it is easily accessible by public transport. People living locally will benefit from having the great space on their doorstep.

For seasoned walkers, it is relatively small to get around but a nice stroll non the less. The large football pitch is great for activities and there is even a sensory garden which is a lovely addition and was being enjoyed by many families. Children will also love the play area which was being enjoyed by many. If you prefer a calmer atmosphere the woodland walk was peaceful and there were lovely plants, flowers and trees to enjoy on the way around.

The park is also home to Foxdenton Hall. This 15th Century building is a Georgian house built for Alexander Radclyffe. The beautiful architecture of the historic home makes for an interesting day trip, especially if you are a keen photographer as it's quite unusual to see a grade II listed building in a park. I enjoyed walking around and exploring here as there was so much to see and it really is well looked after. Sadly the Hall doesn't appear to be used for anything which is a shame as it would be nice to see it open for visitors to enjoy. However, it is still nice to see a piece of history. I was especially pleased to see someone had left books around for others to find, this was a nice touch and showed there is a real community spirit. This might be because of the smaller size or location which attracts residents from the nearby homes, many of which luckily overlook the park.

I would highly recommend this lovely walking spot for a peaceful stroll or a day out with the family.

You can find on Spring Road, Chadderton, OL9 9QS.
