Nestled in the back of Enfield, Forty Hall Farm & Estate is not so well known outside of the the local community, but it's worth a visit.



This 1620's house has it all. Stood in a large open green space surrounded by trees, a rose garden and forested areas, Forty shall Estate itself is both a local museum and an exhibition space. Original fireplaces, maps, decor and layouts to replicate the past of the estate- all free to which to enter and wander around. Within the space, various exhibitions take place throughout the year from the arts: paintings, textiles, drawings and mixed-media installations have all woven themselves into the fabric of the space.

Visitors can take a break at the downstairs vintage-decorated cafe, serving up drinks, cakes and lunches. The cafe is dog-friendly and so has two outdoor spaces if the weather is nice. There is also a souvenir and gift shop, as well as a farm-shop just outside the cafe behind the lake.

As well as a mixture of permanent and temporary exhibitions, Forty Hall host a variety of classes throughout the seasons. From knitting to drawing and painting stained-glass.



The rose garden is a nice escape for the larger green spaces. Highly dependent on the season, the array of roses, flowers and vegetables that grow in this area are forever changing.

The space as a whole is large- grey for walkers. But it's great for picnics and short strolls with a playground and plenty of benches and flowered areas, not to mention the lake.



The estate and parkland is also not shy to a little live music or theatre. Every year, Forty Hall hosts a variety of concerts, from jazzz and alternative, to other live Performances and events in the estate. Themed dinner parties for charity, comedy and alternative theatre nights, are just a selection of what has graced the land. Festivals, markets and fairs are also a large part of Forty Hall, all of which feature on their site calendar .

The banqueting suite is also available to hire. With is own car park and outdoor space if requested, the suite comes with a reception area, bar and other amenities.
