What can I say about my first experience visiting the ? Well, to start with, we chose the best accommodation that we could find in the area via Airbnb.
It was our first experience using the website and we just wanted something special and I couldn't be more delighted by our choice.
The Dene View cottage is a guesthouse placed in the middle of the tiny hamlet of The Pludds in the . Hosted by a lovely couple, Julie and Mike, it is also their home.
As soon as we walked through the entrance, we were welcomed by Olive, the gorgeous family pet. Olive is very docile collie and she definitely got used to all the attention we gave to her.
There is a vast garden with chickens and even a private workshop where Dr. Mike, who is a clock maker, works during the day.
After showing us outside the property, Julie and Mike took us to our room. It was a spacious suite with some personal touches that really made the difference.
There was a nice selection of books and maps to explore, a huge bathroom and some fine tea and coffee.
We could use the fridge in the kitchen to stock our food and drinks and Julie and Mike also provided some takeaway numbers.
There were two entrances in the house and one of the front door keys was available for the guest to have their own privacy time, but they also welcomed us to spend some time chatting on their cosy lounge.
Olive is a nice companion too and she feels very comfortable in the presence of guests in the house. And after some wine, we felt more than welcomed. We had plenty of time to explore the area around, walking through the forest and even paying a visit to the pub in a village next to The Pludds, The Malt Shovel Inn, for a nice meal.
The Dene view is the certainly a guest house with a plus and a wonderful excuse to visit itself.
