Seasonal sweetmeats to get us in the festive spirit

There's nothing like food, glorious food to get us into the festive spirit and the Foodies Festival Christmas serves up a feast of favourites like mince pies, mulled wine and roast chestnuts, along with some more unusual gourmet delights including a lifesize Gingerbread House.

The event at the Old Truman Brewery in Spitalfields from 28-30 November includes a packed programme of demonstrations from top chefs in the open-air Chefs Theatre, the Drinks Theatre, where you'll get advice on how to choose the best wine and champagne, the Whisky Arena and the Ski Bar.

In the Pudding Hall, pâtissiers and chocolatiers will be selling eggnog tarts and marzipan bonbons, while the Gingerbread House will be spicing things up with ginger beer and roasted ginger marshmallows. There are also masterclasses in cake decorating, where you can make personalised sweetmeats to hang on the Christmas tree.

You can dine in style at the Christmas Feasting Table with a choice of dishes from pop-up restaurants or street food, plus cheeses from the UK, France and Italy. In between all the feasting and drinking, leave room for activities including a Christmas Quiz, carol singing, Ceilidh dancing and live music.
