I am a freelance writer living in Gloucestershire. I have been writing family style articles in the form of columns for newspapers since 2000 and spent four years presenting an interview chat show on Forest of Dean Radio.
Eat, drink and be merry at this fabulous Christmas market
It is an entertainment just talking to the stall holders. Being local and entrepreneurial they all have fascinating stories to tell about how and why they started their businesses. We all had a great time at the Victorian Market three weeks ago. It was a bit like a party really. I'm looking forward to going to this one and seeing the same people. The only difference is that they won't be in their Victorian garb this time, but they will have all their amazing produce on offer.
It makes you realise that you don't need to travel far to buy everything that you need, and that despite this everlasting recession, there are local people with tremendous courage who have followed their dreams.
It is, naturally, once more pouring with rain in Gloucester. So take your umbrellas, and, as I said last time, make sure that you walk right down to the end of the Quays. You don't want to miss the big event. It is outside, at the end.
It is free, and it is on now until Sunday 16th, from 10 am to 5 pm. Enjoy!
