Get into the Christmas spirit with a visit to Tamworth
For fun festive activities and entertainment then why not visit Tamworth in Staffordshire over the Christmas period. From fancy Christmas lights and festive films to a roller rink disco and a special Tamworth Castle experience, there is so much to see and do in the way of exciting festive activities in Tamworth this year. And, to make it easier to choose, everything you need to know can be found on the Visit Tamworth website. For a start, there is loads of entertainment taking place at Tamworth Assembly Rooms this Christmas, including Santa's Best Ever Christmas on December 13, a Christmas Party Night Extravaganza on December 16 and 17, and the D-Day Darlings presenting 'A Christmas to Remember' on December 19. At the same time, the theatre launches its new cinema with a fantastic schedule of classic Christmas movies for all the family to enjoy. They will be showcased from Monday, December 20 until Friday, December 24. ranging from Die Hard to The Polar Express. Historic Tamworth Castle will be hosting visits by Santa on the weekends of December 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th. And while these events are sold out, people can still experience the castle at Christmas, up until December 23rd and then from December 28 to 30, before it shuts for the entirety of January.
Other activities include an outdoor roller disco in the Castle Grounds from December 17 to 22, which is open from 12 noon until 7pm. For the first time ever, families will be able to enjoy 50 minute sessions under a marquee on the tennis courts. Santa Claus will also be making a number of return visits to Tamworth, including Planters Garden Centre (Monday, December 20 – Friday, December 24); SnowDome Winter Wonderland (now until January 2); Drayton Manor (now until December 31); and Statfold Barn Railway – Santa Express (up until December 23).
Councillor Robert Pritchard, deputy leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: "Tamworth has so much to offer visitors this festive season. We have everything from a roller rink, Christmas shopping, Christmas movie marathons, market stalls, live music, fun and so much more. We're working on a lot of different projects at the moment to transform Tamworth so it's a great time to visit the town and see everything we have to offer."
