French designer, Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the biggest names in the fashion industry. With a career spanning forty years, he brings witty and daring designs to the public domain. From the 9th April - 25th August, you can discover more about his work in a theatrically staged exhibition at the Barbican Centre, which will be showcasing almost two hundred cutting edge garments spanning from the seventies to present day. These include iconic costumes from film such as The Fifth Element, Madonna's conical bra, and Kylie Minogue's stage outfits.
Gaultier is 'super excited' to be exhibiting in London because for him 'London is a special place'. 'The English were the first ones to come to my show and appreciate my fashion,' he says. Tickets to The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier are £14.50 standard and between £7.50-£12.50 concessions. Children under 12 go free.
There are also related events during the exhibition's run, such as a talk and free Be My Guest exhibit at the London College of Fashion. Harper's Bazaar Evening is a show featuring Gaultier's fashion, and the Punk Couture workshop gives you the chance to learn embroidery.
