Green Street is located in East London near West Ham FootballStadium. The car park is on Shaftesbury Road, a pay and display ticket is required. You can also get there via the underground, Upton Park station exits straight on to Green Street.

There you will find many shops selling South Asian products including groceries, homeware, jewellery and clothes. Here is some information on fashion at Green Street.

The latest South Asian fashion trends can be spotted by taking a walk down Green Street. There are many extravagant shop window displays to entice you in with all the sequins, beads and embroidery on the clothes. Types of clothes available are sarees, lenghas and shalwar kameez. The website for Daminis store will give you a good idea of what you can expect to find.

A number of shops dedicated to selling jewellery can be found on Green Street, this is an example of a shop window display. If you are looking for accessories that are a particular colour then you'll definitely be able to find them in Green Street.

Glass bangles are a traditional item of jewellery in South Asian cultures. They are available in different sizes, colours and styles. Some prefer 100% plain glass whilst others like a bit of glitter added to them. These can be seen in the photo at the beginning of the article.

A very popular shop that stands out from others is Bees, their website provides information on opening times and items stocked.

Something that might catch your eye is the amount of jewellers selling real gold. Wearing gold is very popular in South Asian culture. If you are curious and want to explore some designs then take a look at this website for Tulja Jewellers, also located on Green Street.

The underlying theme seems to be sparkle and bling (the more the better I say) so why not continue this with shoes. Unze shoes are very glamorous and they also sell matching accessories. The great thing about the shoes here is that you can even team them up with western style clothes.

Visiting Green Street is definitely an interesting cultural experience. In most shops prices are good especially for artificial jewellery. Generally speaking these are the opening times:
Monday to Saturday - 10:00am to 6:30pm
Sundays - 11:00am to 5:30pm
Bank Holidays - 11:00am to 5:30pm

As there are many different communities in South Asia there may be a number or religious/cultural events taking place that could potentially affect opening times. Perhaps phoning one of the above mentioned stores may be a good idea. If you do decide to go I hope you have a fabulous fashion filled day.
