A first for Birmingham, Entices Pancake & Ice Cream Bar offers 26 Italian style gelato ice cream flavours alongside freshly made pancakes and Belgian waffles. Entices brings back memories of happy times, where I used to enjoy their incredible waffles. Deliciously moreish, and slightly buttery, I used to visit Entices with my boyfriend when we were in need of dessert on summer evenings.
The waffles and crepes are made on site, which make for a fresh, doughy scent ruminating throughout the shop and wafting throughout Paradise Forum. Coupled with the irresistible scent of baked waffle mix, are the ice creams and frozen yoghurts, which come in a rainbow of flavours.
Ice cream and fro-yo stare at you from the glass cabinets at the front of the store, and it's only too-tempting to order three toppings instead of the one.
At £2.70 per waffle with one topping, however, I resisted, and the waffles are surprisingly filling. The 'scoops' of ice cream are generous, and when they top a hot waffle or crepe, one really is enough.
Even though they sell tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks, I don't see the point in visiting Entices unless you're in the mood for dessert because they do it so well, and drinks are merely an afterthought when thick and fluffy crepes are on a plate.
There are plenty of seats for groups of more than four, and Entices sell kids-sized plates at £2.00 per serving.
For a sugar-satisfying treat Entices mix the classic opposites: hot, baked dough with ice cold yoghurt and gelato. They're open from 7.30am - 8.00pm Monday - Saturday, so yes, you can have pancakes for breakfast.
