A coffee shop that is much, much more than that

Ever been to Borough Market? If not, why not? It is one of the most enjoyable food markets in the whole of London, with a veritable plethora of different food stalls and other related goods to pick your way through. However, that is not the reason I am talking to you right now - in fact, I am here to give you a little insight into a restaurant within the Borough Market area - one I think you might enjoy...

Elliot's is a proper food restaurant - I say this because it just looks like you would expect a restaurant for foodies to look. It has proper rustic charm to it, lots of solid wood, and it's menu is based on what is in season in the market. Notice, I call it a restaurant, and not a cafe as in the name - this is because there is much more of a focus on good, proper food than you would consider in a typical coffee place. It is a cafe for most of the day, most days of the week though - so do feel free to pop in, even if it's just a frothy cappuccino you want.

You can tell that they do everything honestly and with love - all you need to do is see the pictures they post up of their menus to see that it's more about the substance than the style in this establishment. Good honest cooking with good honest ingredients is the order of the day, and of course, finishing off with a coffee is a must - I heard it's actually quite good...

by the way - if it's on the menu, have a look out for the bacon ice cream - one of the most unusual ways I've finished a meal - ever, but strangely pleasurable.
