Nothing impresses my dad more than a well cooked meal. Fresh, local ingredients are what puts a smile on his face and I've no doubt other fathers are happiest when they're chowing down on good food too.
In light of Father's Day fast approaching and my own father's penchant for fine food it's a no brainer where I'm going on the weekend that celebrates our wonderful dads.
The Father's Day weekend (Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June) is going to be turned into a weekend of eating, for Ellesmere's Food and Drink festival is coming to town. They're not stealing the thunder of this national day, but sharing the local produce with dads who deserve to be treated.
I urge families to come together and enjoy the food, drink and events in and around the Ellesmere area. Dads, Fathers, Papis, they all love food, and treating your Dad to a day of eating will surely put a smile on his face.
The Festival is in the town at the Market Hall and the Town Hall and is open from 10am until 4pm both days.
They will be displaying award winning exhibitors who grow and cultivate top quality produce, from fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat products, ice cream, wines, and beers to homemade chocolates and preserves. They're all from local and regional producers, and next weekend looks set to be a success. And full of the well-fed.
This will be a weekend to pore over the wines and beers, pretend you're a connoisseur and get royally sloshed. But mostly it's a weekend to show your father how much you love him, appreciate him, and how, over the years, you're grateful for all he's done. The least you can do is treat him to a good meal.
