Edinburgh Fringe Preview at Hanbury Hall

Located next to the famous Spitalfields Market, Hanbury Hall is one of the three great
Spitalfields Venue event spaces.
Aside from being a great place to hire for hoedowns, birthdays, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and age-attaining ceremonies to name a few, Hanbury Hall also hosts it's own events. One of which, I had the pleasure of attending: The Edinburgh Fringe Preview, where 2 brilliant comedians (
Ahir Shah and
Addy van der Borgh ), and one hilarious MC (Rob Thomas) spent an evening making us chuckle as they 'tested' out some of their material on us.
For those of you who know what the the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (EFF from now on) is, skip the next paragraph - it's long, cumbersome and full of facts. Eurgh - how I hate the facts. If you don't know what the EFF is, please continue reading for you must learn the facts...sorry.
The
EFF is held every August in Edinburgh (duh), Scotland (double-duh) for 3 weeks, and has been running since 1947. It attracts artists from all over the world to showcase their shows, performances, galleries etc. If you think of all meanings of the word 'art' you'll get the idea.
So with that in mind, you can imagine what good fortune it was for a Londoner to be able to experience a little preview of the EFF without having to take the time to go to Edinburgh.
Speaking of London, let's get back to Hanbury Hall.
Hanbury Hall was built in 1719, and started life as a Hugenot Chapel. It was used for meetings and readings, including by Charles dickens in the 1800s, and has since been renovated into a beautiful space with high ceilings and plenty of natural light.
As well as being an excellent venue for events, it also serves some tasty
snacks and drinks - perfect for lunch or a snack.
So whether you're interested in upcoming events like their Soul Session on September 1st, or in the area and you fancy a good cup of tea accompanied by a piece of cake, Hanbury Hall might just be for you. Plus...they have free Wi-Fi...and who can say no to that!
Check out their
Facebook and
Twitter for more information on upcoming events.
