To paraphrase Dorothy: 'There is no place like London.' I hope I can convince you of that here. Also check out my blog at damselwithadulcimer.wordpress.com and my theatre reviews at www.playstosee.com
The Easter Garden Show at Tendercare is a week before Easter
When I was a child at school we used to sing about March winds and April showers bringing forth May flowers. March has been particularly grim so far, with snow, rain and hail, so we can only yearn for those May flowers to start blooming. The Easter Garden Show, which takes place over the weekend before Easter, is a brilliant venue to start planning, or refurbishing, your summer garden and to take your mind away from the weather that Mother Nature is still flinging at us.

The event promises a 'life in the garden' experience where you will be able to talk to experts and watch demonstrations, and takes place at Tendercare, the award winning plant nursery at Denham in Buckinghamshire. There will also be a chance to win a garden makeover valued at £1200 in case you feel inspired to spend money you can't afford.

Not everybody can boast the gardens that accompany some of the larger houses in the Denham area, but there will be plenty on offer to suit all sizes of gardens, as well as other treats that don't have to be confined to the area outside your house.
If you hate mowing the lawn, have you considered laying synthetic turf? Easigrass have been selling artificial grass for seventeen years, and can offer you a choice of five different grades costing between £20 and £30 per square metre. They have a country-wide network of installers and free samples can be requested online. And by the way they won a gold award at the Chelsea Flower Show last year. See what they can do with your patch of green:
Crown Pavilions can offer you garden gazebos, gyms, pool rooms and more, all constructed from Cedar or Redwood - the choice is endless. If they're good enough for that fire breathing dragon, Duncan Bannatyne, what greater recommendation could you ask?
Beyond the garden, other exhibitors will include Stratstone from nearby Amersham, who will be exhibiting their Aston Martins, and offering a prize-winning competition of a visit to the Aston Martin factory. So what if you're not James Bond, or the Prince of Wales … we can all dream.

If you value your stomach rather than the outside of your home, take the opportunity to get yourself acquainted with a few other local businesses. Auberge du Chocolat, with a shop in neighbouring Gerrards Cross and a showroom in Chesham, will be exhibiting their ranges of chocolates, fudge and ice cream.
Finally Fisher's, another neighbour of Auberge du Chocolat in Packhorse Road, Gerrards Cross, will be a further presence at the show. If you thought there was no alternative to our big supermarkets, you should take yourself down to GX and experience an independent supermarket. It may not stock the ranges of Tesco's or Sainsbury's, but it more than makes up for it with the personal touch of a family run business whose history extends back to 1750.
The Easter Garden Show takes place at Tendercare Nurseries, just along the A40 (otherwise known as the Oxford Road) at Denham. It's an easy place to find with convenient transport links to the M40 and M25.
