This place is special...
You probably know Liverpool Street, right? It is after all the station that leads into some of the cool areas of London, Shoreditch, Aldgate, Whitechapel...
It is also home to some rather big buildings, as the City is not far away. It is to one of these buildings, Heron Tower, that I am going to direct you. Go to the 40th floor and you will find the
Duck & Waffle, but first, get ready for the lift to take you there...
That might sound a touch unusual, but the lift is an experience in itself as it virtually rockets up and down the building - and being all glass, and on the outside of the building, the experience feels like you have just taken off.
Next, leave the lift and guide yourself around the corridors to the entrance area in the bar, a lovely open space with glass windows all the way around. If you're lucky, and have booked way, way in advance (the only way you'll be able to get a reservation at peak times), there will be a place waiting for you inside the restaurant. Then you will be able to try the signature dish of the place, the duck and waffle, a crispy duck leg on a soft fluffy waffle, topped with a fried egg and mustard maple syrup. If you would like to try something else, take a look at one of the
four menus that are available throughout the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week it is open.
Don't worry if you can't get in, there should be space for you in the bar, so you can drink a coffee, a breakfast cocktail or one of a variety of other
cocktails, depending on the time of day or your mood - and take in the views of the highest restaurant in London.
