It's Christmas day. I pick up a present from underneath the tree and give it to my mum to open. As the paper is torn away, she lift up a beautiful purple silk and velvet designer shall. First Mum smiles in delight - then a look of horror forms upon her face as she realises how much I must have spent on her.
Not so. I only spent a fraction of the price this garment was worth. And why is that, you ask? Was it damaged? No. Did I shove and push my way through a manic of Black Friday shoppers? No. Was the item no longer in fashion? No. The secret to my bargain purchase was a visit to
DSUK , the pop-up designer sales shop founded by Elaine Foster-Gandey.
Elaine manages to get rock bottom prices direct from the designers, who have surplus stock, which means she is then able to pass on the good fortune of her haggling prowess to customers like you and me.
The up coming Designer Sales UK will take place at Chelsea Old Town Hall on the 21st February between 12pm-5pm, with an entry cost of just £2 or £1 concessions. Serious shoppers can beat the crowds with a VIP ticket for £20, which gives them entry one hour early, and include a complimentary glass of bubbly, a gift bag worth £75, and £10 voucher if you spend over £100.
