You can have a full day of family fun at this UK theme park.
There are lots of things to see and do with over 100 rides and attractions we had a full-on family day of fun and were exhausted at the end of it. We could have spent another day there going on all the attractions we missed out on doing.
Of all the different theme parks that we've visited so far, the wettest attraction we've been on is here with their Stormforce 10 ride. If you don't want to get wet on this one, you'll need to bring some wet weather gear with you as no matter where you sit on the ride, you will get soaked with water coming at you from all angles. We went on a sunny day, so luckily didn't need to use the large drying machines located near the exit which has a cost to use; the water they use is taken from the lake beside the ride and was cold.
For the
Thomas the Tank engine enthusiasts, there is a large themed area called Thomas Land where you will find everything you could want relating to Thomas and friends. With many different attractions and trains made up to look like the characters, you can jump on board one and take a trip around the park and get off at the station near the Zoo.
Most of the rides in this area are suited to young children and toddlers with them being slow and gentle. Our kids, aged six and nine, tried and enjoyed most of them but found some weren't exciting enough for their age group, so preferred the ones in the other areas of the theme park.
If you are looking for a rush of adrenalin and have a head for heights or even if you don't, then going on the Apocalypse Tower Drop should get your heart racing. It was the first stand up drop ride in the world, where you can choose to either stand or sit, and it will give you 4 seconds of sheer terror as you drop from 54 metres and reach a speed of around 80kph.
We went on as many rides as possible, and there are enough thrill rides to keep you going for the whole day. Or if you are not into rides, there is a zoo, model railway and 4D cinema.
Our visit was in the middle of the week, so most of the time there were either no queues or they were short, and we ended up going on the same rides several times.
We bought a package deal direct from Drayton Manors website as it worked out the be the best deal for us, but they regularly have special offers available, making it easy to avoid paying full price.
