With most big city libraries moving towards becoming IT Zones, it is nice to find a library with old fashioned charm. Situated in the heart of Downham Market this community library is available for the whole village to use.

With a range of books from fiction to information guides there is something for everyone. The health information point is especially useful and provides a range of books and leaflets on health related issues. If you want to find information on how to stop smoking or to see what help and support is available for carers this is the place to go. Not only do you have access to a range of information at the library but you are also supported by knowledgeable and friendly staff who are able to offer advice and support.

If you are just looking for somewhere quiet to go to relax or work this is the perfect place, with comfortable seats and several computers there is a space for everyone. Many people come here to connect to the internet and get some work done while others just come to relax and read. The children's section of the library is a wonderful space. With a large selection of books and toys this is the perfect place to take children to learn and play.

There are many services available at the library, not only can you borrow books but there are computer games, language courses and DVDs. Gone are the days when a library was just for reading. All your entertainment needs are taken care of for free. Other services include a book request service, free wifi access and a photocopier, it is helpful to know that you can use the library for many different reasons. There are also self service machines within the library and a handy drop off box outside to return books to out of hours making it easy to take your books back if you can't make it in opening times, this reduces the chance of you getting any fines and makes it much more convenient.

Great courses run at the library allowing you to learn, meet new people or just try something different. Check the website for upcoming events which include creative writing classes, digital skills workshops, scrabble club and friendship groups. This is a real hub of the community and it is great to see a library being used for a range of events.

Find the library at The Priory Centre, 78 Priory Road, Downham Market, PE38 9JS. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent Tesco car park and the library is a short walk from Downham Market Railway Station. The library is open:
