What does dodgeball mean to you? For me it conjures up images of overly zealous P.E. teacher in shorts, with a whistle round their neck, and a loud voice shouting at everyone to get into teams. Popular versus unpopular, as Disney's
Chicken Little, so aptly put it. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out who was used for target practice.
If you were one of the kids on the 'unpopular' team, it is time to confront those old gremlins and discover that the game can actually be fun. It is also a chance to get fit and get your own back.
The idea behind
DodgeFiT is to create a sociable way to get exercise that is more exciting than jogging or going to the gym. It is 'so much fun you won't realise how knackered you are.' From the 11th March classes will be held at Powerleague on Old Street every Tuesday at 7.10pm for £10. Each session will will include at least three rounds of speed-dodgeball, in which you'll have to dash, duck, dive, and dodge your way through a torrent of balls. You will get bruised, you will get bashed, but you'll also have a great time, and improve your fitness levels.
You can reserve a place or just pay at the door on the day. There re discounts available if you bring a friend, sign up to a loyalty scheme, or block book.
