Game of Thrones star dances with the devil
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is returning to the London stage to play Doctor Faustus, who sells his soul to the devil in return for magical powers.
The actor, best known for playing Jon Snow in the HBO fantasy show based on the novels of George R R Martin, will play the lead in Christopher Marlowe's 16th Century tragedy.
The play, directed by Jamie Lloyd, with additional scenes by Colin Teevan, opens at the Duke of York's Theatre in April – the same month as the scheduled release of the sixth series of Game of Thrones.
Speculation is rife as to whether Jon Snow, who was last seen fatally injured from multiple stab wounds, is actually dead, or whether he might be resurrected, possibly by the red witch Melisandre using black magic.
Kit, who last appeared on the London stage in Laura Wade's Posh at the Royal Court in 2010, describes the play as "very dark and funny" and has been practising magic tricks in preparation for scenes involving stage illusions.
Doctor Faustus is showing at the Duke of York's Theatre St Martin's Lane, London WC2, from 9 April to 4 June 2016. Tickets priced £30 - £105.
